Walleye

Walleye? In Virginia??? That’s right! One of the best kept secrets here is the amount of walleye in the blue ridge! We have two rivers we fish routinely, targeting these toothy fish. The Staunton (Roanoke) River are the tailwaters of Smith Mountain Lake and Leesville Lake. When fishing the Staunton, you may catch a wide variety of species including walleye, saugeye, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, striped bass, white bass, white perch, yellow perch, chain pickerel and 3 different species of catfish! Secondly, the New River. The New River is home to some absolute GIANT walleye. Some of which have been known to reach up to 15+ pounds. Both rivers support an incredible population of fish. This is Capt. Dakota’s favorite fishing!

All of our river fishing trips are seasonal due to water temperature and fish activity. Please do not hesitate to fill out our form submission to ask what fish are biting best throughout the year! When fishing the river, we will either be in an inboard jet boat, drift boat or raft. These trips last 8-10 hours and are limited to 2 people per trip. Multiple boats and guides are available to accommodate larger groups of anglers.
